Identity Card

The identity card (called the Passbook) is a proof that a student belongs to the university. Students need to get their Passbooks made from the Dean Office (located in Samanvay Bhawan). They are available in the office by the second week of admission and are necessary to avail facilities like Health Centre, Libraries and Wi-Fi. A student is advised to carry his/her passbook everywhere around the campus.
Health Security
Banaras Hindu University gives its students free health care benefits by providing access to the Student Health Center and the Sir Sunder Lal Hospital.This include free checkups and medicine from the health centre. For serious cases, the Heath Superintendent at the Heath Centre may refer a student to the Sir Sunder Lal Hospital.
The students can avail this facility by obtaining a Health card at the Student Health centre.Heath Cards are issued for a term of a year. The students need to get a new Heath Card made in the next session by the same process mentioned above.

Libraries
There are two kinds of libraries available to a student of FSS. One in the SAYAJI GAEKWAD LIBRARY (CENTRAL LIBRARY) and the DEPARTMENT LIBRARY (located in Samta Bhawan). Once a student has obtained the passbook, he/she can get the Libraries Card made by filling a form at both the libraries.
Each student is provided two library cards by each of the libraries, in order to enable him/her to borrow two books at a time. The books at the Departmental Library can be kept till one week to one semester and there is no late fine. However, the Central Library issues books for a fixed period and a late fine of ₹1/day is to paid on returning the books after the due date.

Transport
The university provides free bus service to the students.The usual mode of transport for students is two-wheelers.

BHU WiFi
The university provides free internet to all its students through Wi-Fi and LAN services.
In order to avail this facility, the students need to get a proxy id made from the Computer Centre.

Orientation
FSS Connect organizes orientation for newcomers in mid August-early September. Through the orientation session, it introduces
the newcomers to the various clubs and their activities.The eight clubs of the Faculty of Social Sciencesorganize their own events from time to time, in which members as wellas non-members can take part. Some clubs may organize workshops.

Places to hangout on campus
Vishwanath Temple: It is the perfect place to find serenity in. You can sit inside the temple and enjoy solitude, or you can sit in its beautiful lawn amid the greenery. Additionally, you can grab cold coffee or eat great food at the shops around here.
Bharat Kala Bhawan: Bharat Kala Bhawan is a museum inside thecampus, opposite to the Institute of Management Sciences. Bharat Kala
Bhawan is a beautiful museum , full of artifacts reflecting the richculture of India. Entry to it is free for students having Passbook.
Madhuban: It is a public park located near Faculty of Performing Arts.
Café Coffee Day: It is located near IIT-BHU. It is a great place to hangout with friends and to have good coffee.

Extra-Curriculars
The Faculty provides ample opportunities to the students to explore and excel in various fields apart from academics.
There are various clubs in the cultural society which provide an opportunity for the students to bring out their hidden talent.
Students can also be a part of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the National Service Scheme (NSS).
The university also organises training camps in Mountaineering, Swimming, Yoga, Meditation and various other activities.
The seminars and workshops happening all round the year also provide a chance to the students to gain hands on experience in what they learn in the curriculum.
The university also has outstanding sports facilities in the form of Ampitheatre grounds, indoor stadiums and and a gym.
